It is a half-day excursion , we embark 08:00 AM, we return at 01:00 PM.
It is an hour of navigation to the island, during the navigation, you can see dolphins (Southern Dolphin, or Toninas Overas) this is not guaranteed.
Once we disembark, we begin a trekking of approximately one hour, in which we go along a path that crosses a colony of Magellanic penguins, ruins of old buildings, we arrive at the site where the penguin island lighthouse is located, from where we enjoy a Panoramic view of the Isla Pingüino Interjurisdictional Marine Park.
From here, a few minutes away, we are already in the rockhopper penguin colony, here we stay for about 45 minutes, very close to the penguins, sharing a snack: Tea, Coffee, Mate, Chocolate milk, homemade pudding.
After the established time, we start the march again to embark back, during the journey we see a colony of sea lions, here also, on occasions, we can see elephant seals.
After approximately 20 minutes, depending on the behavior of the animals, we embark to go back to the city.
The people who hire us benefit from a discount on lunch on the day of the excursion, in restaurants in the area.
ROCKHOPPER PENGUIN
When the breeding season begins, wave after wave of rockhopper penguins will leave the fishing grounds in the sea (where they spent months feeding) to jump onto the rocky shores, often too rugged for other animals, making them a species of safe paradise.
The males arrive first, the females follow weeks later. Rockhopper penguins mate for life, for which they spend a large amount of their first hour on land searching for their mate with their calls.
Once paired, the duo will return to the nest they used the previous years. The adults will take turns incubating while the other goes fishing to fatten up again.
